Kiki La'Rue skirt review!

Ugh I can finally breathe! Between obsessing watching the Olympics {USA Men's Gymnastics - what the hell happened? All those muscles and nothing? Such a shame...} and trying to just keep up with the calendar that seems to be flying by, I haven't had a chance to tell you about my newest Kiki La'Rue purchase!

First of all - who doesn't love getting a package in the mail? Then make it shiny and pink - pick me!
{I erased my address so you crazies can't stalk me lol - kidding - come visit anytime you're in Houston!}

Remeber this post? I had been eyeing {<is that how you spell that?} this little diddy for some time and I finally convinced my hubby that is was a life or death situation.

He chose life.

And here is the newest member of my family!

I had a little trouble trying to figure out what to pair it with at first. I am pretty sure I was just over thinking it because once I put on a simple black tank and tucked it in, it looked great!

I paired it with nude pumps and a black blazer {I am wearing it to work today} - but I think it would be just as cute and functional for a weekend outfit with a pair of sandals. {minus the blazer}

I also carried my camel colored bag to compliment the warm oranges and yellows in the skirt.

Oh yeah - the price... only $36.00 and worth.every.penny!

And Miss Becca - her cute little self - sent me the cutest birthstone necklace with my skirt! {Now that is customer service people!}

Seriously, even if the clothes weren't as cute as they are, I would order from them just because of the wonderful customer service.

It's like shopping in your best friends closet! ;)

How I Make That Money Honey!

I am linking up with Lindsey at Bargain Blonde for her "How I Make That Money Honey: link-up because, let’s face it, the sad truth is we all can’t be professional bloggers – so I have this side gig called a career to tell you all about!

I live and work in the greatest city on earth – Houston, TX! {I’m biased I know – keep reading and you will understand why}

Let’s start with my edumacation – I am a Fightin’ Texas Aggie through and through loved every second of my college career! {why is it called a career? They don't pay you - in fact you pay them! Hmm...}
{not class of '08 - couldn't find a picture for us 2010 grads}

I started in the Liberal Arts school with a communication degree and then the thought of taking classes with names such as Western Rhetoric changed my mind QUICKLY.
{I mean, I am not even from the West right?}
Joking – I do know that the class is.not.about living in the West ladies and gentlemen.

Anyways, I decided that was not the degree I wanted and quickly switched to something with a little more of the journalism angle I was looking for {keep in mind that A&M does not have a Journalism degree so I had to make do} – hello Agricultural Communications and Journalism degree!

EEEK! – Does this require communication with farm animals? Or heaven forbid classes. Outside. with farm animals?

{I would die - literally - I am deathly allergic to horses/donkeys - intelligent major choice. I know.}

No worries I survived and actually really learned to love my degree and the people I met in it.
{minus the animal science class that was held in a barn - who got out of that by using the death card - THIS GIRL!}

I got major experience in everything from layout design and copy editing to publication writing. I even wrote for and then edited a Texas A&M Agriculture publication, called the AgriLeader, which is published every quarter. This, by far, was my favorite part and fuels my desire to work for a magazine one day.

This is the issue I co-edited!

Anyways...
After graduation, I did what every college student does who can’t find a job needs a break, I slept in and ate food from my mom’s fridge and told people I was “looking” – hey I was – on my days off from running errands and having fun with friends!

I finally ran out of money decided to take a job doing marketing for a company, but it just wasn’t the right place for me. {Looking back I truly believe that God had a plan because as much as I didn’t like that job, it gave me the time and funding to plan my wedding in 10 months}

May 2011 rolled around and I jumped head first into the position I am in now. My official title is Economic Development Marketing Coordinator. I work for a program that’s sole purposed is to recruit companies {domestically and internationally} to the Houston region by selling its high points through trade shows, conferences, forums ad campaigns, etc.

I plan marketing events around the world and then make them happen by coordinating the logistics and the collateral for each event. We then bring home "suspects" or potential new businesses that the organization's economic development team works with to bring their business to Houston.
{Hence my love for the city I represent on a daily basis!}
{p.s. - I started a new job, watched my soon to be sister-in-law go to her senior prom, celebrated my brother and sister's birthday, celebrated mother's day, had a bachelorette party, had a bridal shower oh and got married all in 4 weeks - crazy I tell ya!}

As crazy hectic as my job is I really love the opportunities it has given me {ie. Traveling} and the people I have been able to make connections with. It is definitely never boring – on any given day you can find international dignitaries running around here or here one of many languages being spoken or see some local big shots such as Governor Perry – like I said – always interesting!

{Plus I get to work with this hot little lady - Miss Tess @ A Modern Suburbanite's Life}

What do you do to bring home the bacon?

"I don't have any wrinkles because I fill them with pie"

Let's talk about food for just a second

I can - with pride - say that

I love nothing more than trying a new recipe or a new menu item or a new restaurant
{for that matter it doesn't even have to anything new lol}

I don't know what it is about food that I just get like a little girl with her first Barbie happy to eat it

Is it that I like the flavors? Or the whole concept of out to eat dining? Or enjoying something yummy with people I love? All of the above?

All I know is that life wouldn't worth living without good food.
{And my body hates me for that comment}

I also know that my wonderful, loving, annoying husband tends to not agree! {gasp!}

This guy tells me that of the following two foods, neither sounds better to his brain

{1.} 8 oz beef filet grilled medium topped with grilled shitake mushroom and a garlic butter sauce

OR

{2.} A peanut butter and honey sandwich

SERIOUSLY?
How is that humanly possible - I just don't get it!

I mean how can mushy white bread with gooey honey and peanut compare?!

And this is why cooking at our house is so ridiculous - because this is the answer I always get when I ask how he likes it....no matter what it is

Him - "It's good babe"
Me - "Gee thanks...glad I spent 2 hours cooking it"

Okay off my soapbox about why it's waaay better to live to eat rather than eat to live - now let's look at some recipes that I {the food snob} am currently craving!

stuffed mushrooms
via

deep fried avocados
via

lemon pull apart bread
via

pizza cupcakes
via

Now that I have gained 47 guilt pounds just for looking at these pictures and recipes, I am going to go soothe myself with some chocolate cake celery sticks and ice cubes.

No cinnamon rolls?!

Ever get up at 1130am early on Sunday morning and crave warm gooey cinnamon rolls? Ever realize you didn't have them? Ever cry tears of sadness?

Love me later, but here is the easiest solution to making cinnamon rolls appear out of thin air.

Grab that can of regular crescent rolls {that everybody keeps in their refrigerator} and roll them out without breaking the triangles apart.

Sprinkle as little or as much cinnamon and sugar as you like all over the rectangle of dough.

Roll the dough back up and use a knife to cut the log into however cinnamon rolls you want to make.

Pop them into the oven and cook as directed on the crescent roll package.

{While they are cooking mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons water to make the yummy icing that goes on top}

Drizzle the icing on the hot rolls and watch them disappear --- seriously you will eat them all.

{cheat sheet cinnamon rolls!}

Do you have a cheat sheet recipe that you run to in a time of desperate need? SHARE!

{I am so sorry that this has taken me so long to get posted - but I had a wake up call the day I was supposed to post and I needed some time to deal. I won't go on and on about it because, frankly, it makes me sad. I found out that a very very close friend of mine is sick --- thank God it's not life threatening sick --- but it is life changing sick and I cannot imagine in my wildest nightmares how she feels. {1.}
How long have you been blogging? Less than a year  And what got you started on blogging? I had recently gotten married {to a law student}, moved away from my family and friends and needed a creative outlet because I was going CRAZY without things to do and people to see Has your blog changed? Not too much – I hope it is getting better and I am I definitely learning more about the blog world.

Crew {better quality clothes} – or a lesser know boutique so the entire world wouldn’t have the same stuff….

{10.}
Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present. Hmm – I guess I would have to say in high school I was on the drill team and one time I was out with some friends {ahem and some older gentlemen} and someone decided it would be a great idea to see who could kick their leg the highest --- good news: I won - bad news: the seam in my pants did not

{13.}
What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years? Oh Lord – umm I worked for under the table money at soccer concession stands as a child lol; I dealt blackjack for a casino company; I have waited many a tables in my days {everyone should have to do this once}; I have worked in graphic design/marketing for a while

I see us owning our first home with my big stinky loving the giant backyard and a smaller stinky to keep him company. Suburban living I guess lol

Adult Content Weekend Review

I have started the trending post of "If you really knew me," but I have a Saturday night story that is too good to wait -

Warning: adult content - HA!

So if you really knew me, you would know that I am not a huge partier/drinker - never really have been. {I did the quintessential (sp?) crazy nights - 21st bday; bachelorette party; grad parties; etc} But on a day-to-day basis, I just don't booze it up too much.

My only MAJOR exception - margaritas and Howl at the Moon!
{Howl at the Moon is a dueling piano bar with some of the most talented musicians - who are also extremely raunchy and who doesn't love raunchy?!}

I cannot and have not been there without becoming THAT girl:
* That girl who wants to dance to and sing to every.single.song
{even if she doesn't know the words}
* That girl who makes friends and talks to every.single.person
{even when they don't want me to}
* That girl whose husband just shakes him head and laughs
{because " I NEVER does this"}

Yeah I was THAT girl --- I know --- embarrasing. {Why the hubs takes me anyways is beyond me - could be because he likes to watch me wobble - yeah - it happened}

But, alas, there always seems to be other women people who are waaaay more embarrassing then I.

Exhibit A:

{Now that everyone fully thinks this woman is doing exactly what it looks like she is doing --- I will stick up for her and say, no she is not giving him a BJ --- just doing a BJ shot which involves a scantly clad male and a giant syringe full of who knows what, topped off with whipped cream given in a very compromising postion {{in public - with cameras}}

Just keepin' classy folks - just keepin' classy
*so sad this photo isn't better quality - damn margaritas camera

Exhibit B:

Same as exhibit A - just thought I would show you a different position you can take the shot in, just in case the first doesn't do it for ya

One last tid bit to leave with you - all the participants of this show were at least 40:
not hatin' - just sayin'

Regrets for the night:
Not asking how he got that job and what his job title is? hmm...syringe shooter? BJ King?

 Not getting a picture of the 400 lb. man who proceeded to let the glow stick wearing nugget climb into his lap and administer the shot --- yeah his friends thought it was ackward too

Not being drunk enough or paid enough to entertain the thought of participating

{just so you don't think its only a place to watch obscene social happenings -- here is a clip of some of the amazing music and yes, he is blindfolded!}

What crazy thing did you see this weekend?!

Dear wallet: why are you empty all the time? I thought we were friends --- guess not.

Dear KiKi La'Rue: get in my closet. now. --- oh you need my wallet? maybe it will open for you...maybe

Dear all the Magic Mike haters: get over yourself --- we all know you love a good half naked man just much as the rest of us --- you just don't want your hubby to know :)

you. are. welcome.
{thanks Bargain Blonde!}

Happy freaking Friday --- {for those of you in Houston --- try not to drown through the weekend}

What I'm Loving Wednesday! {Yeah for being positive!}

Let me apologize for yesterday's nonsense post - I just felt that I needed to put those thoughts out there because that was the only way I could sum up how I was feeling and somehow putting it on paper {or in this case the world wide web} was good closure to get out of my rut.

Moving on, today's posted seemed only fitting to include positive things {maybe I can redeem my ass from yesterday}! So I am linking up with the cutie Jamie over at This Kind of Love for

Here goes - bring on the positive attitude!

{1.}
Has anyone out there in blog world heard of Stick on Pods?? Yeah, me either

Buuut I have seen the suckers on Pinterest and I finally clicked to see what all the fuss was about.
{I don't know about y'all but I am an excellent pinner --- not so good on the follow through. So if I ever have a free year or two I WILL create, eat, buy and design my way through my Pinterest boards}
Back to the Stick on Pods --- these beauties take the term "Everything has a place and everything in its place" to a new level. And the best part --- they are CHEAP! {mama loves cheap}

For only $23.99 you can have everything you see in the picture above and then you can recreate that perfect bathroom cabinet!
These are on my to buy list ASAP - which means on the 15th of the month!

{2.}
These shoes make my heart hurt I love them so much! I have had them forever and they are that one pair that goes with only a couple things, but I always feel like a million bucks when I wear them :)

{3.}
Panera's Cinnamon Crunch Bagels! I th ikn God must have made these on the 7th day because they are heaven in my mouth --- never had one? GO. NOW. QUICK

{4.}
I had a wonderful phone call last night with a new friend who I don't know in person, but I now know we would get along perfect if we did!

{5.}
It is official: Creatively Classy is open for business! WHOOP!
{more on this exciting adventure later}

{6.}
Waking up to these two handsome faces every day!

Now then --- wasn't that just so damn full of positiveness?! YEAH ME! haha

hope you all have happy humpdays :)

Friday's Letters - for the first time!

Today is the day for my 1st official link up and I am very excited! So here goes -- no judging

Photobucket

Dear birthday: can you come back - I kind of like being a brat

Dear hair: why do I randomly style you and LOVE it and then can NEVER replicate it when it really counts

Dear calendar: slow the f*$# down! I can't keep up with you

Dear weather in Maine: join me in Houston?

Dear Magic Mike: no words can describe you --- except maybe hot and slightly inappropriate --- but mostly hot {sadly you do not belong to me - keep him close Jenna, keep him close}

Dear Emily: the final two better be Sean and Jeff - then you are on your own honey {unless ABC allows you to keep them both, then definitely go with that option!} P.S. - where did you get the dress you wore to Sean's house!? Can you send it to me? Great, thanks.

Dear husband: you know you love me --- even though I can be slighly annoying

Dear self: just because you went on vacation, then had a birthday and then celebrated the 4th DOES NOT mean you can skip Crossfit for 3 weeks --- no ma'am --- we are all regretting it aren't we?

That wasn't too bad was it? {And kind of fun!} Have a wonderful weekend!
- Lindsey Nicole

Happy day after the 4th and chocolate heaven

Happy post 4th of July to everyone! Hope you all had a day filled with food, fun, friends/family and fireworks!

Those are my four F's for the Fourth --- who knew I was so good at alliteration!

{don't hate me --- but these aren't pics of my 4th as it was less than exciting this year, but I still wanted to share my thoughts!}

I must say my favorite F is the FOOD {hence why I listed it first and could shed several a few pounds} ---

Anyways, one of my favorite summer yummies are two of the best foods on earth combined --- strawberries and chocolate {need I say more folks?}

{yes they are from Pinterest}

They are the easiest thing to make, because folks, Philadelphia cream cheese comes in chocolate --- WHAT???!!!

I am not even joking when I say it comes in white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate {and that I might have eaten it with a spoon while making these - a lot}

All you do is cut a tiny bit of the bottom off {just enough so they stand up -- but dont make a hole} - then use a knife to make the hole as deep as you can without going through the bottom

OR buy this dandy little contraption {strawberry huller} which will take the top off AND make the perfect hole! Found at target for only $7.99

Now just fill with the softened cream cheese {I used a pastry bag with a pretty tip, but you can use a ziplock bag with a corner cut off}

VOILA!

The most important and fifth F -
FREEDOM
Thank you to all who work to keep us free!

Painting with a Twist

Busy bee --- that's me this past week or so since getting home from Boston/Maine trip!

We had a little get together this weekend at the in-laws house and it was good times, except for the rain of course :(

One of my favorite things from this weekend, however, was the date I went on!!! {Relax it wasn't with another guy --- it was with a girl!!}

One of my bestest best friends and my momma planned a whole surprise date for me for my birthday that involved booze and painting --- this new phenomenon that is popping up in strip centers all over.

Basically each night they offer a different painting and you choose the night/painting you want to participate and show up with your booze and snacks and get ready to become your own version of Leonardo Da Vinci. {Our studio was called Painting with a Twist, but there are others all over}

{I promise -- if this artistically challenged lady can do it then ANYONE can do it}

And the final masterpiece for your viewing pleasure

{Pinky swear I actually did this free handed with several drinks in my system --- hidden talent? HA}

My next goal is to get a big group, because you can do private parties and I think it would loads of fun for a girls night out or even a date night! {Always looking for new places}

Here are the lovely ladies of Painting with a Twist that evening:
