October Foodie Pen Pals

Well I did it again - I signed up for Foodie Pen Pals and sat my fat self around and waited anxiously for goodies to arrive and again they did NOT disappoint!

The Lean Green Bean

My box came from the cutie new blogger Hannah over at Healthy Eating for a Healthy Life and it was full of yummies so thank you, thank you, thank you Hannah!

The best part of this box was that I was sick and laid up in bed so these were all things I could eat right away or the hubby could use his minimal kitchen skills to make!

The night I picked it up, I told my hubby that I wanted to make the spaghetti, so he sweetly boiled the noodles and heated the sauce *cough best husband ever cough* --- Now, I am normally not a huge fan of jar spaghetti sauce; I usually make my own because the jar stuff never has the right spices --- This jar was PERFECT!! Seriously I didn't add one thing to it and I could have eaten it with a freaking spoon!

As you can tell by the box on the right, this box cam from the Buckeye state --- Apparently one definition of a "buckeye" is a chocolate candy with peanut butter inside and even though I am not a Buckeye fan ;) I will forgive Hannah because these are to die!

The first thing the hubs torn open was the apple butter and I am not joking when I say that I did not get ONE BITE! He hoarded it until it was all gone --- so, Hannah, good job! {Can you send more lol} He also loved loved loved the chili on hot dogs!

I haven't tried the spicy mustard yet, but I have a killer recipe for homemade salted pretzels that would go great with this so the vote is still out!

Jealous yet? Wanna Join? Here are the rules:

1. On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.

2. You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
{The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
}

3. You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)

4. Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

I'm jealous of your Skyline Chili can! As a California native with parents from Cincinnati, I have grown to love that chili. I had a flat of it, but I ate through it. :X

Fingers crossed I get an Ohio penpal next month... !
