Here is some food for thought:
Where do you draw the line between only eating celery and ice or gorging yourself on
pork rinds and cheetos?
There has to be a middle ground!
I just want to be healthy and still enjoy my life. I like to cook. I like to restaurants. I like to eat.
Period.
I don't like fad diets. I don't like frozen "healthy" meals. I don't like injections or drops.
Some of that stuff may work for others, but I know me and I know it won't work for me personally. I have to find a way to make healthy choices the majority of the time, but still be able to have the things I love. {And I love french fries and cake and bread and diet coke}
A pretty lady we all know once told me 80/20 - and the more I thought about it, the more I like it.
80% of the time eat clean. Make good choices.
20% of the time be bad. Eat cake.
Again, this is what I think will work best for me. Realistically, I know that my will power is pretty much non-existant. I have to have 20%.
Time to face the music. Admit that I won't ever be 105 pounds. Take my 80/20 and run with it.
Two days in and I already feel better and am proud of myself.
To tomorrow!

I just wrote about my zero will power today as well. le sigh....
I just heard about this 80/20 thing yesterday! And I said to my roommate...looks like I do that except for 80 is the bad and 20 is the healthy haha.
Whoops!
I agree...there is a middle ground. I feel so bad for friends on strict diets...they get no joy out of going out or even cooking. It makes me sad. On the flip side, I sometimes have to convince myself that mac & cheese will only temporarily make me feel better and will prob make me feel worse in the long run. It's tough! :)

I love this. you're inspiring me now :)... gotta get back on track!
Get it girl! You can do it. Honestly, 80/20 really does work. I do my best to eat well during the week so I can splurge a little on weekends. Then I don't feel so bad if I don't cook or I go to a happy hour (or two!).
I feel exaaactly like you do. I was getting so frustrated feeling like I was doing everything WRONG because I am not hopping on the yeast free, gluten free, carb free whatever free diet.... So I got back to basics. My family is German and none of them are overweight. Basically, they eat slow, don't mindlessly snack, quality over quantity, and don't stuff their faces on the run. I bought a book on amazon that basically discusses these things too called French Women Don't Get Fat and I really feel like for me eating balanced, quality unprocessed meals and learning to slow it down and truly enjoy my food is key. AND exercise of course. Good luck in your endeavors, everyone has to find their own balance I think! :)
